Two new electronic vehicle charging stations are coming to North Burnaby.

Electric vehicle drivers in Burnaby will now have two more stations for charging.

The provincial government has announced 25 new stations in Vancouver, North Burnaby and New Westminster, with two opening at 6564 Hastings St..

Both will be operated by BC Hydro and are planned to open this summer.

“More and more British Columbians are switching to electric vehicles to save on fuel costs and reduce air pollution,” Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation Bruce Ralston said in a news release.

“Through CleanBC, we’re working with our partners to expand our EV charging network across the province, make it easier for drivers to go electric and put B.C. on the road to a clean energy future.”

The new stations in Metro Vancouver are a result of partnerships between Natural Resources Canada, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, BC Hydro, the City of Vancouver as well as Canadian Tire.

“People in British Columbia are switching to clean electric vehicles in record numbers to reduce climate-harming pollution, save on fuel and maintenance costs, and enjoy a cleaner, better technology,” Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy George Heyman added.
