Burnaby’s StreetFest on Central Canada Day event concludes with a fireworks display in Central Park, on July 1, 2023.

Award-winning photojournalist Jennifer Gauthier has two new trophies for her cabinet.

Gauthier took home gold in best news feature photo and silver for best feature photo at the 2024 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards by News Media Canada.

Gauthier's golden shot depicted the 'gas bomb' firework set off at Burnaby's StreetFest on Central Canada Day event last year (pictured above).

Judges called the image "an outstanding news photo of an unexpected event."

Her silver image featured local Burnaby skateboard champ Oli Ward at Hastings Skate Park
