Police are looking for a suspect that may have been involved in three unprovoked attacks on women near the Burnaby-New Westminster border in less than five days.
The first attack, near Elliot Street and Clarkson Street in New Westminster, was reported to police on Aug. 28, according to a news release put out by Burnaby RCMP Wednesday.
Two days later, at about 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 30, an unknown man approached a 25-year-old woman in the area of Edmonds Street and Canada Way and wrestled her to the ground, according to the release.
“It’s believed the victim may have been followed for a short distance,” the release said.
Two days later, in the early morning hours of Sept. 1, Burnaby RCMP got a report of a third similar attack in the Edmonds area.
In each incident, the victim was woman, according to the release.
Police are now looking for a five-foot-eight man between the ages of 16 and 22, with tanned skin and black, wavy hair.
On Aug. 30, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie, light-coloured jeans and black running shoes, according to police.
“Burnaby RCMP's serious crime unit is actively investigating these incidents and working diligently to identify and locate the person responsible for these assaults,” spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the release. “We’re asking anyone with information to contact our investigators.”
