Burnaby realtors are appealing to the community's holiday generosity once more in hopes of helping residents in need stay warm.
From Nov. 14 to 21, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) is hosting its 29th Blanket Drive, collecting winter clothing items and cash donations for local associated charities.
It's considered to be one of the largest and longest-running fundraisers in the Lower Mainland, according to the REBGV.
Since its inception, the Blanket Drive has helped more than 480,000 people stay warm and dry, including the homeless, single mothers, the working poor, and those getting back into the workforce.
"Our partner charities are in need of blankets and winter coats with winter conditions and below-freezing temperatures arriving early this year," said Jennifer Quart, REBGV chair, in a news release.
"The need for these winter clothing items is as great as it's ever been."
This year, there are five locations in Burnaby to drop off winter clothing:
- LeHomes Realty (4737 Kingsway)
- Oakwyn Realty (4481 Hastings St.)
- RE/MAX Crest (#1-5050 Kingsway)
- RE/MAX Heights (#400-4370 Dominion St.)
- Sutton Centre Realty (3010 Boundary Rd.)
Items needed this year consist of:
- Blankets
- Sleeping bags
- Coats and sweaters
- Jeans and pants
- Scarves, gloves, mitts and hats
- Socks (new)
- Underwear (new)
