Burnaby residents to get 72-hour priority registration for summer rec programs

Burnaby is opening its registration window starting June 2 for programs at local civic facilities, including swimming lessons.

Burnaby residents will be able to register for swimming lessons, as well as other summer recreation activities at civic centres across the city, 72 hours in advance of the general public starting June 2, 2024.

Burnaby's window for summer recreation and activity registration is opening in two weeks.

And local residents will get to sign up three days in advance of the general public, including swimming lessons for kids.

At 10 a.m. each day, registration will open on the following dates:

  • Sunday, June 2 = swimming lessons
  • Monday, June 3 = recreation activities
  • Tuesday, June 4 =arts and heritage activities

Non-Burnaby residents will be able to register:

  • Wednesday, June 5 = swimming lessons
  • Friday, June 7 = recreation, arts and heritage activities

For swim lessons, registration will be taking place 30 days in advance of the first class for local residents.

"Families are reminded that children can only be registered for 1 set of swim lessons at a time," a City of Burnaby statement reads.

"You can register your child for the next set of lessons only after the completion of the lesson set they are currently registered in. Your child may be withdrawn from a swimming lesson set if registered in more than 1 lesson set."

Summer activities list in Burnaby's 2024 guide include kayaking, paddleboarding, tennis, martial arts, ukulele and painting, as well as group fitness, dancing, baking and computer classes.
