We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. For this week's feature, we have one of the biggest events of the year, along with a couple of other worthy community celebrations. 1.

We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. For this week's feature, we have one of the biggest events of the year, along with a couple of other worthy community celebrations.

1. Get rocking with the 12th annual Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2 to 10 p.m. This is the showcase festival at Deer Lake Park and this year's headliner is k.d. Lang and the Siss Boom Bang. Also on the roster is John Mayall, Imelda May, Luke Doucet and the White Falcon, Matt Andersen, the Secret Sisters, Ben Rogers and many more. 2. Get celebrating the 50th birthday of Brentwood Town Centre on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The mall just north of Lougheed Highway will have free live music from Tony Prophet and the Chilliwack Moonlighters. There's also a kid's zone, scavenger hunt and cake.

3. Get supporting some Burnaby Cops for Cancer riders on Saturday Aug. 13 at Lougheed Town Centre. Three riders will be in their riding gear and pedalling stationary bikes in preparation for the Tour de Coast this September. The riders will be there during mall hours and people are encouraged to drop by and make a donation for this most worthy of causes.

4. Get entertained at the Grand Villa Casino. Some of the free entertainment includes the YVR Band playing on both Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. each night, cash draws at 5 and 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14 and, for those who love good food, there's the $11.49 scrumptious brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more info, call 604-436-2211 or go to www.grandvillacasino.com.

5. Get viewing The Solitudes of Place, recent drawings by Ann Kipling, running until Aug. 21 at the Burnaby Art Gallery at 6344 Deer Lake Ave. The gallery's open more than just on the weekend, with opening hours Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
