Peggy Nagy plans to take a celebratory trip and save some of her five-figure winnings from a recent scratch-and-win lottery ticket.
Nagy won a top prize of $25,000 from BC Lottery Corporation's (BCLC) Concert of a Lifetime ticket.
She had originally bought the ticket because she was hoping to claim the grand prize of a suite at BC Place for her and 13 guests at a major concert.
“I was waiting for my husband,” Nagy said in a news release today, Aug. 22.
“The first thought that came to mind was, ‘This can’t be real!’
“I wanted to win for my co-workers who are my family. I just wanted to celebrate and thought the concert is an amazing way to do that!”
The ticket was purchased at the Chevron Town Pantry at the intersection of 152 Street and 105 Avenue in Surrey.
On top of winning $25,000, Nagy still has the chance to win the grand prize of the unspecified concert on Dec. 6, 2024.
Nagy and the nine other winners of 10 top prizes of $25,000 will all be entered into a draw to see "one of the world's biggest artists" in concert.
In an emailed statement to the NOW, the BCLC said it can't confirm who the performer is due to an agreement between BC Place and the artist's team.
According to BC Place's website, Taylor Swift is scheduled to bring her "Eras Tour" to the venue for three scheduled dates on Dec. 6, 7 and 8.
