Lucas Dasovic's first year with UBC will be one he remembers for the rest of his soccer career.
The Burnaby athlete's consistency as a top defender in the backfield was critical for the Thunderbirds all season long as the team fought to erase an 11-year championship drought.
Dasovic held the line in the gold medal match last Sunday, Nov. 10, to help UBC shut out the University of Montreal 1-0 in Oshawa, Ont., and claim the program's 14th U SPORTS national title — Canada's highest level of collegiate sports.
Dasovic, a Kineseology student, was even named the T-Birds' player of the match.

"It's special. I think anybody would say their group is special, and they are, because when you get to the top of the mountain, it's not easy, and it should be savoured," said UBC head coach Mike Mosher in a team release following the victory.
"We've got some guys in the group who've had some tough hits over the last few years and the program itself, we've come damn close for a long time."
Dasovic started in 11 matches for the 2024-25 campaign, registering four shots through 1,020 minutes on the pitch.
Prior to joining UBC, he suited up for Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 for 17 games across two seasons one tier below Major League Soccer (MLS).
