A 58-year-old man is scheduled to make his first appearance in Vancouver provincial court this week after being charged in a collision that killed a motorcyclist in Burnaby just over a year ago.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Douglas Road and Laurel Street on Feb. 8, 2023 at about 6:20 a.m. for reports of a crash, according to a Burnaby RCMP news release at the time.
At the scene, they found a hatchback and a motorcycle, the release said.
The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the hatchback remained at the scene after the crash, and police said impairment did not appear to be a factor.
Nearly a year later, James Robert Morgan was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with driving without due care and attention.
He was scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
