Vancouver resident Marcel Genaille, 35, has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident that killed a 59-year-old Surrey man last June.
A 35-year-old Vancouver man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist last June.
Emergency crews responded to a report of a hit-and-run involving a vehicle and motorcycle at Canada Way and Imperial Street on June 19, 2021.
The motorcyclist, a 59-year-old Surrey man, did not survive his injuries, and the driver of the other vehicle involved left the scene.
After a nearly year-long police investigation, Marcel Genaille has now been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
“We know this death continues to impact the victim’s family, friends and loved ones, who have been left to grieve their loss knowing the driver involved did not remain at the scene,” Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in a news release Thursday. “Our officers have worked diligently over the past year to bring this matter before the courts.”
