City home struck twice

Burnaby RCMP are investigating a second home invasion in one week at a residence along the 6600-block of Imperial Street.

The first incident happened last week, when two suspects forced their way into the home. The same two suspects returned with a third individual earlier this week, again forcing their way into the home.

According to Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP, police believe the suspects are looking for drugs and have specifically targeted the residence.

"The individual they were looking for basically kicked them out (and) told them to leave," he said.

In both incidents there was a struggle between the homeowner and the suspects. The homeowner sustained a few scratches and was pepper sprayed, but other than that there were no injuries, Reid said.

Police believe the homeowner and the suspects know each other. The homeowner is known to police and Reid said he has been cooperative throughout the investigation.

"There's no danger to other people in the vicinity; this is targeted," he said.
