Cyclist killed in crash near Burnaby 8 Rinks

A Port Moody man is dead after he was struck by a tractor-trailer in Burnaby Tuesday afternoon. At about 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 10, a cyclist travelling on Sprott Street near Norland Avenue collided with an 18-wheel tractortrailer.

A Port Moody man is dead after he was struck by a tractor-trailer in Burnaby Tuesday afternoon.

At about 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 10, a cyclist travelling on Sprott Street near Norland Avenue collided with an 18-wheel tractortrailer. Police, fire and emergency services all responded to the call and the victim was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital with serious head injuries, said Cpl. Dave Reid, Burnaby RCMP.

Andrew Evoy, 51, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police are now looking for witnesses who may have seen what happened prior to the collision, Reid said.

No charges have been laid. The tractortrailer driver remained on scene after the accident and has been cooperating fully with police, Reid added.
