With Father’s Day is just around the corner (June 18), bringing the opportunity to celebrate the fatherly figures in your lives by treating them to a special Sunday, curated just for them.

BC Family Fishing Weekend
The annual celebration of fishing that coincides with the Father’s Day weekend takes place June 16 to 18. Canadians can fish for free in both saltwater and fresh water this weekend.
Spend a great day out fishing with your dad at Deer Lake park, and if you’re travelling, visit BC Family Fishing website to find your nearby fishing-friendly lakes.

Foodstock festival 2023
This spectacular fundraising music festival (for those aged 19 and up) celebrating “local bands, local beers and local food,” featuring popular band Said the Whale, is coming to Swangard Stadium this weekend. Bask under the sun with your father, sipping beers from local brewers (include Dageraad Brewing, Kits Beach Beer Co., Luppolo Brewing and more), listening to live music from local bands and savouring delicacies from your favourite food trucks — all for an important cause (Father’s Day and to raise money for feeding those in need).

Father's Day Walk Run 2023
Every year for the last 24 years, the Father's Day Walk Run has supported the lives of men affected by prostate cancer. With the motto, “25 years later the disease is still here and so are we,” the 2023 event will return to Burnaby Lake (6871 Roberts St.) on June 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A Tot Run, two-kilometre stroll, 5 km walk and 10 km timed run are scheduled. The cost is $50 for those aged 13 and up. $15 for children aged eight to 12 and those below seven can participate for free.
There’s even entertainment, burgers and awards at the end. Check the website for more information and registration. Online registration closes on June 15 at midnight, but on-site registration will be available on June 18.
Father's Day at the Burnaby Village Museum
The Burnaby Village Museum will have various activities running throughout the day to celebrate Father’s Day this year. A recurring interactive exhibit, “Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby” will help you and your father appreciate the history and legacy of Burnaby’s South Asian Canadian community. Then you can participate in a scavenger hunt and explore the scents of South Asia. There is also a carousel gallery for you to explore and discover the history of this century-old treasure of the fairground from 11 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Each ride costs $2.65. Take your dad out for a nice meal at any of Burnaby’s gems, such as Burnaby Mountain Restaurant, Little Billy's Steakhouse, Hart House Restaurant — there are plenty to choose from.
Care for burgers? Personas at Grand Villa Casino is having a Burger Bliss For Dad special on Sunday, June 18, for what they are calling an “ultimate burger experience.” If burgers are not your style, the casino is also have a remarkable feast at the buffet with its Southern style barbecue-inspired menu from 4 to 9 p.m. You need to be over 19 to take your father out to these dining experiences.
