Burnaby police might never have noticed a stolen vehicle driving through Metrotown this week if the driver hadn’t decided to make a dangerous lane change without signalling.

Just after noon on Remembrance Day, a Burnaby Mountie saw the vehicle make the unsafe manoeuvre at the intersection of Kingsway and Nelson Avenue, according to police.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and quickly determined it had been reported stolen in Maple Ridge late last month, police said.

The driver, a 39-year-old Alberta man, was arrested and taken to the Burnaby RCMP detachment.

The vehicle was towed, and arrangements were made to have it returned to the owner.

Police also seized a bag of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia and tools believed to be used for criminal activity, according to police.

The man now faces charges of drug possession and possession of property obtained by crime.
