Not many people are going swimming these days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
You can go swimming, but you have to book a time.
With the number of swimmers in Burnaby, now seems a good time for repairs to the city’s best water feature – the slide tower at Eileen Dailly pool in North Burnaby.
If you’ve been to this pool, the slide is loads of fun for all ages as you climb the tower and then go really fast through a twisty tunnel and then into a splash pool.
Now the City of Burnaby is looking to make some major renovations to the tower, according to a city staff report, including its demolition and rebuild.
“The project involves the demolition and rebuild of the slide tower at Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool,” the report says. “The scope of work will include concrete foundations, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, cladding, glazing, painting, and updating the waterslide, as well as the mechanical, lighting and electrical systems.”
The city received tenders as high as $1.95 million, but staff recommended a tender at nearly $1.8 million, including GST.
