If you want to have input on what the Burnaby school board should spend its money on next year, now’s the time.
Trustees are in the process of developing the board’s priorities for the 2022/23 school district operating budget, and they are looking for input from the public.
There are a couple ways to make your voice heard.
You can attend a public meeting via Zoom at 7 p.m. on April 12.
To attend only, call 604-296-6900 ex. 661004 or email [email protected] by Monday, April 11 at 1 p.m.
If you want to make a presentation at the meeting, you will have to call 604-296-6900 ex. 661004 or email [email protected] by Monday, April 11 to be added to the agenda.
You can also submit your input in writing by either sending an email to [email protected] or sending a real, old-fashioned letter to Burnaby Board of Education finance committee, 4054 Norfolk St., Burnaby BC V5G 0C3 by Friday, April 15.
“The board is committed to ensuring that the district’s educational programs and services continue to be maintained,” reads a statement posted on the school district website. “Given the fiscal challenges of balancing the 2022/2023 budget, the board will seek input from its stakeholders and members of the public on budget priorities.”
Trustees and district staff are already meeting with employees, students and partner groups.
The completed budget will be presented at the April 26 regular public school board meeting for adoption.
