Burnaby's elected officials have filed the annual paperwork needed to see what "areas of influence and possible financial benefit" they could have because of their office.
Every year members of city council and school trustees must disclose their assets, debts and sources of income as part of transparency measures legislated by the province.
The officials don’t have to include whether they have mortgages owing or other money borrowed, if they own land outside of the region, or hold assets held in trust for someone else.
They also don’t have to disclose corporate assets if they own less than 30 per cent of shares.
The NOW obtained Burnaby officials' 2023 disclosure forms electronically; the forms are available to view in person at Burnaby City Hall.
