A driver is a little lighter in the wallet after they hit a pedestrian at Smith Avenue and Kincaid Street Tuesday night.

The collision happened around 7 p.m. when the driver, who was turning left from Kincaid on to Smith, struck a pedestrian crossing in a crosswalk. A RCMP patrol officer was in the area at the time and responded to the accident. Paramedics were called to the scene, but confirmed the pedestrian’s injuries were only minor, Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Daniela Panesar told the NOW.

The driver, who police say did stop at the stop sign before making the left turn, was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian, which carries a fine of $167, Panesar said.
