A fire at a Burnaby elementary school this week was out before it could do much damage.
Firefighters were called to Cameron Elementary School in the Lougheed area at 6:47 p.m. for reports of a fire at one of the school’s portables, according to assistant fire Chief Gavin Summers.
On arrival, crews saw light smoke but no flames outside one of the portables, he said.
“It looks like there was a little fire there,” Summers said.
Firefighters checked inside the portable to make sure the fire hadn’t spread, and it hadn’t, but the outside of the building sustained some damage during the incident.
Police were called to the scene to help with traffic control, according to Burnaby RCMP.
Police said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
