Khoj – Kathak dance with live orchestra

Revel in the magic of Indian classical arts at this “event to remember” evening dance recital in Burnaby this weekend.

“Khoj: the Search,” a Kathak dance concert will be performed with a live orchestra at Burnaby's Michael J Fox Theatre on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m.

Edmonton Hall of Fame artist and dancer Usha Gutpa, who has curated the piece, said its inspiration “is the idea that if you search for the beauty within an unshaped space, the poetry inherent in the physical body will be revealed, and the spirit of dance will be expressed, similar to how a sculptor searches for the statue hidden within the uncut rock.”

Tickets are priced from $20 to $30 and VIP tickets at the orchestra centre are $50.

A $5 discount will be available to seniors and students. To purchase tickets, visit the website or call Kamal Sharma at (604) 833-1977.
