Fraser Health has issued a COVID-19 Child Care Facility Self-Isolation notification for St. Matthews Day Care Society in Burnaby.

Children and staff that attended St. Matthews Day Care Society on Oct. 7 and 8 were likely exposed to COVID-19, according to Fraser Health.

The health authority issued a COVID-19 Child Care Facility Self-Isolation Notification on Oct. 15, 2021.

The bulletin says those that attended the daycare must self-isolate for 10 days from the last date they were present during the exposure days (Oct. 7, 8). Staff, as well as children, are recommended to monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the last day they were also present.

Fraser Health says self-isolation means the following.

  • Monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19
  • Staying at home unless urgent medical care is needed. Call the centre you are going to before you arrive if you need to go
  • Children can be in a monitored outdoor space but should not play with friends or go to any public area
  • Do not go to work, school or other public areas (such as grocery stores, shopping malls, fitness centres or places of worship)
  • Do not have visitors
  • Do not share personal items with others
  • Do not use public transportation

The health authority adds that contacts of staff and children to who the letter applies (such as spouse/partners, parents and siblings of children receiving the letter) don't need to isolate.

BC School COVID Tracker says, according to its own data, there have been 1,721 school exposures to date with 616 schools affected.
