Get ready to pound mochi as part of the annual tradition at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre this Sunday.
Mochitsuki, meaning mochi-pounding, is a Japanese end-of-year tradition.
At 11:15 a.m., the Vancouver Japanese Gardeners Association will hold a demonstration of how the rice is pounded into mochi - and guests can join in on the experience.
Entertainment will also include:
- 11 a.m.: Chibi Taiko
- 12:30 p.m.: Satsuki-Kai Dance
- 1:30 p.m.: Judo demonstration
- 2:30 p.m.: Vancouver Okinawa Taiko
