Burnaby could be feeling hot, hot, hot by the weekend.
Monday has kicked off in pleasant, springlike fashion, with the temperature currently sitting at 11 C and a high of 15 C expected this afternoon under partly sunny skies, as the Weather Network predicts.
The same pattern will hold true for tomorrow (Tuesday, May 9), with a chance of a shower and a high of 15 C.
After that, however, we're looking at the mercury starting to climb towards the weekend: mainly sunny and 19 C on Wednesday; a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 20 C on Thursday, and a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 23 C (feeling like 25 C) on Friday.
As for the weekend? Well, that's when we're going to see the real summer weather hitting us.
Saturday calls for mainly sunny skies and a high of 26 C that feels like 30 C. Sunday gets even warmer, with sunny skies and a high of 29 C that feels like 34 C. And we'll be kicking off next week with still warmer weather — with a high of 29 C that feels like 35 C in the forecast for Monday, May 15.
Stay cool out there — and be sure to check on your friends and neighbours to make sure they're coping with the heat.
