New month, new trend of weekly gas prices in Burnaby — and not in the right direction.
The cheapest available is $1.80 per litre at the Smart Gas along Canada Way, according to GasBuddy.com (see list below).
That in itself is a six-cent increase from $1.74 per litre at the same station from last Friday, Feb. 23.
And, it's the least expensive price for fuel in all of Metro Vancouver, as of this publication, March 1.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, recently told Glacier Media while he can't provide predictions on the "micro-timing of gas price increases in Canada," costs should start to climb at this time.
He noted that refinery maintenance typically happens during "shoulder seasons" and can slow down production.
"Broadly, we believe that gas prices are beginning their seasonal rise as refinery maintenance and the transition to summer gasoline come into play."
The largest known uptick in Burnaby gas prices was eight cents — $1.84 from $1.76 per litre at the Esso and Smart Shop on North Road.
The city's average price sits at $1.85 per litre, two cents more than $1.83 last week.
Meanwhile, there's one gas stop in all of B.C. that's offering gas for less than $1.50 per litre.
Tempo off Mabel Lake Road in Enderby is selling fuel for $1.49 per litre — located more than 460 km northeast of Burnaby.
