The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has released its strategic plan for the next five years.
The Burnaby post-secondary institution announced its latest direction on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The plan involved extensive collaboration and consultation with the BCIT community including students, employees, alumni as well as industry leaders, the school said.
BCIT says the plan focuses on elevating students' educational journey through the following four key commitments:
- Transform teaching and learning experiences to continuously equip students with future-proof skills for a rapidly changing world
- Catalyze digital transformation to modernize and streamline systems, secure data and improve experiences and efficiency
- Foster vibrant communities on and off campus to enhance the experiences of connection, well-being and belonging
- Enrich partner and industry experiences to amplify student learning and real-world impact
“BCIT has long been a beacon of innovation and resilience. Our new Strategic Plan is not just a roadmap for the next five years – it is a bold declaration of our intent to lead, innovate, and transform the future of education,” BCIT President Dr. Jeff Zabdusky said in a media release.
“At the heart of our Strategic Plan is our unwavering focus on the student experience and their success. Each of us plays a critical role in shaping BCIT’s future. Together, we will rise to the challenge, embracing innovation, collaboration, and resilience to create a lasting impact on our students, their education, and beyond."
A total of 13 initiatives also focus on creating actionable progress and impact across the four key commitments, with each designed to support student success and long-term commitment to sustainability during the next five years.
