Geiger is the author of Subverting Exclusion: Transpacific Encounters with Race, Caste and Borders, 1885-1928.

Her work explores the experiences of Japanese immigrants in North America and how their experiences of social status as caste-based collided with the American and Canadian perceptions of status as mainly race-based.

Geiger's book will be available at the event, which starts at 3 p.m.

Admission is by donation.
