A new Burnaby charity event will help underprivileged youth make memories.
The Camp Cue Camp Society will be hosting its inaugural Deer Lake Dash on April 19, with proceeds helping send youth to summer camps in Sooke, B.C.
The event will feature a 5-km run/walk, 10-km run and 21.2-km run.
Five kilometres is one loop around the course, 10 km is two laps and 21.2 km is four.
Package pickup will be on April 18 from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by the following start times on race day:
- 7:30 a.m. - check-in open for all distances
- 8:30 a.m. - 21.2 km start
- 9 a.m. - 10 km start
- 9:30 a.m. - 5 km start
- 12:30 p.m. - cut off for all distances
The start and finish of the races will be on the east side of Burnaby Lake.
There will be one aid station halfway through the course with water and gels available. Snacks and water will also be available at the start/finish line.
Camp Cue is a non-profit which was founded by Burnaby resident and award-winning theatre artist Nicol Spinola.
Camp Cue is entering its fourth year of operation.
