It’s been almost eight years since Asim Chaudhry left his home in Burnaby and was never heard from again.

On July 20, 2007, the 24-year-old Simon Fraser student told his family he was on his way to the Burnaby university to study, but the initial investigation by RCMP determined Chaudhry never made it to the school. Instead, police spoke with a friend of Chaudhry’s who said he’d met him for ice cream at McDonald’s at Brentwood mall before going their separate ways around 10 p.m.

At the time, there was nothing to indicate Chaudhry was involved in any criminal activity or partaking in drugs or alcohol.

According to Burnaby RCMP, there are no recent updates but the file remains open and active.

Lon Batchelor

Burnaby RCMP said the same thing about another, unrelated missing person file from July of 2013.

Lon Batchelor was reported missing by his family on July 1, 2013. Previously of no fixed address, Batchelor’s family was concerned for his well-being, according to the Burnaby RCMP.

Police described Batchelor, 43, as five-feet, eight-inches tall with a medium build and short dark brown hair. Part of his right-hand pinky is missing and he is known to wear glasses.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either Batchelor or Chaudhry is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922.
