Born in Taiwan, Mailing and her family have lived in Burnaby since 1995. She is a former business owner of a local travel agency and currently works at the Surrey Tax Centre. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Like many parents with school age children, Mailing's involvement in the community centers on the importance of her daughter's education. She has participated in the local parent advisory council at her daughter's school in Burnaby and has helped support numerous fundraising activities.
Mailing wants to make sure Burnaby's public school system continues to meets the needs of all children in the Burnaby school district. She made the decision to run with the BCA as she saw the impressive record of accomplishments and ongoing success in making the Burnaby school district "leading-edge" and wants to make sure the school system remains strong and that students have safe, caring environments in which to reach their learning potentials.
"I want the opportunity to be involved in more community issues and want to maintain the high quality of education in Burnaby's public school system", she says.
In her mid-forties, Mailing feels she can add to the success of Burnaby's public school system by contributing her energy and strong work ethic.
Mailing and her husband are proud parents of a daughter who attends Burnaby public school and is an award-winning competitive figure skater with the club at Bill Copeland Sports Centre where Mailing sits on the board of the Burnaby Figure Skating Club.
