A 41-year-old man has been charged in relation to a series of thefts at the Sunglass Hut at Burnaby's Metrotown mall totalling more than $56,000.
The six thefts were captured on surveillance video between Sept. 8 and 17, according to a Burnaby RCMP news release Wednesday.
The detachment said the suspect in the case was arrested at the mall on Sept. 28 by officers conducting targeted enforcement.
Darryl John Dolan has now been charged with six counts of theft over $5,000.
All counts relate to thefts at the Sunglass Hut, according to the court registry.
Dolan is in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing in Vancouver provincial court Wednesday morning.
"The partnerships our team has fostered with local businesses has gone a long way in progressing files like this into the court system," Burnaby RCMP Sgt. Neil Jones said in the release. "Often, there are only a few individuals responsible for an overwhelming number of these types of crimes, which makes these targeted enforcement projects necessary."
