Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian has organized a memorial for NDP leader Jack Layton at Burnaby City Hall on Thursday, Aug. 25.
People will have the chance to sign a book of condolences, which Julian will present to Layton's partner Olivia Chow and his son Michael and daughter Sarah. Julian will speak at the memorial, then he'll fly to Toronto on Friday for Layton's funeral. Layton passed away from cancer in his Toronto home on Monday, Aug. 22.
The memorial is from 5 to 6 p.m. in council chambers at 4949 Canada Way.
