North Burnaby shooting sends one man to hospital

Police responded to the 4300 block of Kitchener Street just after 7:45 p.m. Tuesday for reports of 'possible shots fired' and found a man with a gunshot wound.

There was a large police presence in the 4300 block of Kitchener Street in Burnaby Tuesday night.

Burnaby RCMP are investigating a shooting that sent one man to hospital Tuesday night.

Police were called to the area of Kitchener Street and Madison Avenue just after 7:45 p.m. for a report of "possible shots fired", according to the detachment.

At they scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound, police said.

Members of Burnaby RCMP's gang enforcement team were on scene, but police have not confirmed the incident was gang related.

Police shut down a section of Kitchener Street in both directions and expect to be in the area for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing.
