Photos: Burnaby schools finish strong at Fraser North cross country championships

The Fraser North cross country championships at Coquitlam's Mundy Park, featured hundreds of runners from schools in Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, New Westminster and Maple Ridge.

Burnaby North Secondary finished first in the junior girls’ team competition at the 2024 Fraser North zone cross country championships, held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Mundy Park in Coquitlam.

The event featured hundreds of runners from schools in Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, New Westminster and Maple Ridge.

The Vikings were led by Chloe Gibson with a time of 19:23.6, placing second in the 4 km race and less than three seconds behind the winner, Taysia Lennstrom, from Coquitlam’s Centennial Secondary.

  • Heritage Woods
  • Centennial

Elijah Clarke finished eighth in the 5 km senior boys race with a time of 18:35.3 for Burnaby North, while Advaith Iyer cracked the junior boys top five at 17:41.2.

Burnaby Central Secondary's Benjamin Musovic crossed the junior boys finished line in second with a time of 17:06.2 — six seconds behind Jaylen Jung of Dr. Charles Best Secondary (Coquitlam).

Burnaby North and Mountain also finished third and fourth respectively in the senior boys race to qualify for provincials — all races of which will take place at Jericho Park in Vancouver on Saturday, Nov. 2.
