Photos: Burnaby seniors care home pays tribute to Canadian veterans

Bugle Major, bagpipers and old military vehicles were included in the local procession ahead of the Remembrance Day weekend.

Residents of one of Burnaby's larger seniors care homes witnessed a touching tribute to Canadian military members prior to the Remembrance Day long weekend.

The George Derby Centre — located at 7550 Cumberland St. — hosted a candlelight ceremony for war veterans on Friday afternoon, Nov. 8.

The event included old Canadian military vehicles as well as a field of 5,000 handmade poppies.

A Bugle Major and bagpipes led the local procession, which consisted of 25 community leaders in attendance such as the Honorary Consul of Belgium and a representative of the French Consulate.
