Concert-goers revelled in music this Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Burnaby Blues and Roots festival.
It was a day of jamming to tunes both old and new, with half a dozen performers including: headliner indie-folk band Fleet Foxes; Grammy-nominated artist Allison Russell; pop, rhythm and blues group The Dip; hymn-jammer Boy Golden; Arctic soul band The Trade Offs with lyrics blending Inuktitut and English, and vintage-rock songstress Bebe Buckskin.
This was the first Blues and Roots festival in its 22-year history to have free admission.
Buffy Sainte-Marie, who was originally slated to headline the show, announced her retirement from live performances earlier this month.
Attendees could enjoy from a variety of food trucks, community booths and a family zone.
