Motorcyclist killed in Burnaby collision

A 34-year-old man is dead after a crash in Burnaby involving a car and motorcycle Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Douglas Road and Laurel Street at 6:20 a.m. for reports of a motor vehicle collision.

At the scene they found a hatchback and a motorcycle, according to a Burnaby RCMP news release.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle had been travelling southbound on Douglas Road, while the hatchback had been travelling eastbound on Laurel Street, according to police.

The driver of the hatchback remained at the scene after the crash, which police believe happened at about 6:10 a.m. 

“Impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time,” stated the release.

Burnaby RCMP’s criminal collision investigation team has taken over the case, and police are looking for witnesses or anyone who might have dash cam video in the area of Laurel Street and Douglas Road between 5:50 and 6:30 a.m.
