A report of a suspicious person allegedly peering into the window of a Burnaby home in four months ago has led to firearms charges against a 26-year-old woman.

On March 20, a member of the public approached a police officer patrolling in the area of Royal Oak Avenue and Rumble Street and said they had seen a suspicious person looking into a home in the area, according to an RCMP news release Wednesday.

Officers investigated and located a woman matching the description provided by the witness near the back of a home, the release said.

Personal belongings and a backpack were found nearby.

Inside the bag, police found a loaded handgun, according to the release, and the woman was arrested on scene.

Last month, two charges were approved against Raven Lee Graham: possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

"We're thankful for the quick-thinking witness who saw something suspicious and didn't ignore it," Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the release. "If your gut says something is up, listen to it. We encourage the public to report suspicious activity to police."
