RCMP seek video, witnesses relating to Burnaby motorcycle crash that killed 22-year-old

Police say the cause of the crash is still unknown.

Burnaby RCMP are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage relating to a fatal motorcycle crash on June 19, 2022, that killed a 22-year-old.

The cause of a motorcycle crash that killed a 22-year-old is still unknown, which has prompted Burnaby Mounties to ask the public for help.

RCMP said officers responded to a report of a single motorcycle crash just after 2 a.m. on Sunday (June 19) at Willingdon Avenue and Sanderson Way. 

The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, officers explain.

It was travelling southbound on Willingdon Avenue at the time of the crash.

Burnaby RCMP's criminal collision team is taking lead on the investigation, which remains ongoing as of this publication.

"The cause of the crash is still unknown," spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in a news release today (June 20). 

"If you have dash cam video on Willingdon Avenue between Lougheed Highway and Sanderson Way between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., our investigators would like to speak to you."

Anyone with video or dashcam footage, or who may have witnessed the crash, is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file-number 2022-20078.
