Rental prices in Burnaby remain sky high, report shows

Vancouver is still the most expensive city to rent from in Canada, but Burnaby is not too far behind.

Burnaby is still one of the top three most expensive cities to rent from in Canada, according to Rentals.ca's latest report

A one-bedroom rental in the city reached an average price of $2,566 in July, up 0.9 per cent from June while a two-bedroom averaged $3,184, marking no increase or decrease compared to the month prior. 

The one-bedroom average is up one per cent from the same time period last year with a two-bedroom rental actually decreasing 5.6 per cent. 

Vancouver is still Rentals.ca's most expensive city in Canada with a one-bedroom average of $2,761 and two-bedrooms averaging $3,666.

B.C. is still the most expensive province to rent from in the country with a studio averaging $1,988 in July, $2,304 for a one-bedroom, $2,902 for two-bedrooms and $3,311 for a three-bedroom for a total average of $2,570. 

"Within our data, three of the recorded provinces experienced their highest achieved average rents including Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec, all of which recorded record highs in July," the report said.

"Vancouver maintained its position as the most expensive city for roommate rents with an average cost of $1,476, up 1.4% annually."
