Richmond Mounties have taken to social media to shame a driver they caught going nearly three times the speed limit.
On Twitter, RCMP posted a driver was clocked going 134 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone. The tweet suggested the driver, who was travelling along Steveston Highway, may have been “late for a movie.”
Late for a movie? 134 kmph in a 50 kmph zone along Steveston Hwy is incredibly dangerous and risks the safety of all road users. $483 fine & 7 day impoundment. pic.twitter.com/rLTqfYmgf5

Whether or not the driver was actually in a rush to catch a flick, they received a $483 fine and seven day impoundment.
Even so, some responded on Twitter saying that punishment wasn’t harsh enough.
80km over the limit should also be an automatic suspension, abs double the fine!

Should be 6 months in prison and fines like the Nordic countries have.

We're way too lenient with these piddly fines and 7-day impounds. Fines should start at $100 per km/h over the limit when you're doing more than 25km over the speed limit.
