Burnaby city council approved $4,000 for World Rivers Day 2013 at its Aug. 26 meeting.
World Rivers Day is an annual event and will run on Sept. 29 at the Burnaby Village Museum from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Its purpose is to celebrate the environmental, economic, social and cultural values of waterways around the world, according to a planning and building report.
The city funds will be used for advertising and promotion.
