The Simon Fraser women's soccer team captured its second consecutive GNAC title on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The Simon Fraser University (SFU) women's soccer team are Great Northwest Athletics Conference (GNAC) champions once again.

The Red Leafs, ranked third during the 2024 championships, upset No. 1 seed Western Washington 1-0 on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

Kiera Scott scored the lone goal in the title game, bringing her tournament total to three after scoring both goals in SFU's 2-0 semifinal victory over second-seed Seattle Pacific.

Her three goals earned her MVP of the tournament.

“We know she has that type of quality, and she is such a dynamic player in those 1v1 situations,” SFU Head Coach Carlo Basso said after clinching the conference for a second consecutive season.

“When she gets across the shoulder it’s very difficult to deal with her. Today she once again proved to be the difference maker and had a fantastic finish to get us the trophy.”

Goalkeeper Sarah Loewen stopped a season-high eight shots to record a clean sheet in the final.

The Red Leafs, who finished with a GNAC record of 14-3-3, now move on to the 2024 NCAA West Regional Championships, earning the automatic birth for the second year in a row.

The team's first game is still to be determined.

Scott, Loewen, midfielder Alyssa Clark, and defenders Elyse Beaudry and Emily Smith were all named to the 2024 GNAC Women's Soccer Championships All-Tournament Team.
