'That's the way we roll': City of Burnaby encourages community to come together to be snow angels

“Burnaby is a city where we look out for our neighbours"

The holiday season is about giving, and the City of Burnaby is doing its part to remind residents.

The city is asking residents to join Mayor Mike Hurley and become snow angels in their neighbourhood during the winter.

When snow falls, like it did last night, the city says it's everyone's responsibility to clear sidewalks adjacent to their properties, but some may struggle, which is where residents are encouraged to help out their neighbours.

“Burnaby is a city where we look out for our neighbours,” Hurley said in a press release.

“That’s the way we roll. This year, I encourage residents to think about the folks next door who might not be able to shovel their sidewalk. If you can, ask them if they’d like you to adopt theirs.”

People can also get to know their neighbours better.

"So when the snow starts to fall, ask around in your neighbourhood to see if anyone needs a helping hand to keep their property clear," the release adds.

"Ensure the extra snow ends up back on the property, rather than on the road.

"And always – remember to stretch!"
