Three-time Burnaby-born, Coquitlam-raised Olympic wrestler to speak at youth summit

Justina Di Stasio will be at the Gamar Foundation’s second Rise & Inspire gathering on Oct. 5, 2024.

A Coquitlam wrestler who competed in three Olympics, including in Paris this summer, will be the keynote speaker at a youth leadership summit.

Burnaby-born Justina Di Stasio will be at the Gamar Foundation’s second Rise & Inspire gathering on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Douglas College in Coquitlam.

Registration is now open for high school students.

Designed to empower and connect youth in grades 9 to 12, the event is run by foundation co-founders Adel Gamar and Naomi Khan, parents to five children.

Di Stasio, who has Cree and Italian roots, wiłl talk about how teens can learn from her athletic journey by working hard and following a dream.

Ed Hall, the former chief of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation, will offer blessings.

Attendees will also hear from a panel of four young business professionals:

  • Taylor Hui, founder of BeaYOUtiful Foundation
  • Prishita Agarwal, co-founder of Mosa Technologies
  • Ryan Ching, CEO of Vision2Reality Foundation
  • Chloe Goodison, founder of NaloxHome Society

Their discussion will be moderated by Leah Coss, the founder of Build a Biz Kids.

As well, there will be a chat with Kaylen Lomas, the social media coordinator with the Coquitlam Senior Adanacs and the co-founder of DreamShot Media.
