1 Get into Halloween with Haunted Village - Halloween Hysteria, at the Burnaby Village Museum from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Have fun with monsters, vampires, mummies and more. $14 for adults, $9 for children two to 12 years old. Entrance includes trick-or-treating for children and unlimited carousel rides for all. 2 Get listening to the music of Jesse Peters on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Peters has been a force in the Canadian music scene since 1998. While still in high school, he garnered rave reviews as a singer and songwriter from distinguished jazz artists Ingrid Jensen and Diana Krall. By the age of 21, his group, The Peter Drury Trio, had released two critically acclaimed recordings. Jesse's newest recording, Face Time, embraces a vocal driven mix of original and standard tunes filled with energy, innovation, scope, and range. Tickets for the event are $32 for adults and $27 for students and seniors.

3 Get appreciating art at the Burnaby Artists' Guild's art exhibition and sale, In Love With Color at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6540 Deer Lake Ave. from Oct 26 to 28. The opening will be at 7: 30 p.m. on Oct. 26. The show will be open Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feature artist Muriel Corson and the guild's many talented artists showcase original artwork in a variety of styles and mediums. 4 Get buying books at the gigantic St. Michael's book sale, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Michael's school gym, 9387 Holmes St. More than 10,000 new books will be on sale at unbelievably low prices. Prices are $3 for one book, two books for $5 or five books for $10. There's also an all-day concession featuring chicken wraps and bubble tea.

5 Get supporting Gogos on Sunday, Oct. 28 for Beads & Bags, hosted by the Burnaby Gogos at Deer Lake United Church at 5135 Sperling Ave. from noon to 3 p.m. This group will be selling locally-made signature gogo tote bags and Kazuri jewelry, handmade by a women's co-op in Kenya. Event also features refreshments and more. Drop by to learn more about Grandmothers to Grandmothers. All proceeds to the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers Campaign.
