Garden
The annual Heights garden tour is on this weekend.

Fall may be around the corner, but we still have some summer sunshine in the forecast and highs around 25C this Saturday and Sunday. We have a wonderful lineup of events happening this weekend, so get outdoors and enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Get outside for the Heights Garden Tour on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Heights Neighbourhood Association and the Heights Garden Society organize the annual event, which showcases local gardens. The tour starts at the Heights Community Garden, at 3897 Pender St. Maps are available by donation, and the trek takes close to three hours on foot or 1.5 hours by bike. This year's tour includes a special stop at two adjacent food gardens inspired by an earlier Heights garden tour. After the tour, a local chef will host an afternoon tea and cooking demonstration that encourages Burnaby residents to share recipes and stories about food and their heritage. Attendees are encouraged to bring recipes and photographs. For more info on the tour, email [email protected].
