Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at Rideau Retirement Residence in Burnaby
Outbreaks at KinVillage long term care and KinVillage assisted living in Tsawwassen, The Mayfair in Abbotsford, and Morgan Place in Surrey have also been declared over.
The Rideau outbreak had at least 14 cases, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.
An outbreak remains at Burnaby Hospital.
There is also a large active outbreak at the long-term care unit of George Derby Centre in Burnaby, according to the BCCDC, which has seen at least 69 cases since Nov. 13. There have been 52 resident cases at George Derby and 17 of those residents have died.
“At this time, it is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones,” said Fraser Health. “Please don’t wait, and book or drop by one of our collection centres which are operated in partnership with local Divisions of Family Practice. People living in the Fraser Health region can find information about test collection centres by visiting Fraser Health’s website.”
Fraser Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at AgeCare Harmony Court in Burnaby.
The outbreak has been one of the city’s deadliest. According to data posted by the BC Centre for Disease Control, the outbreak began on Nov. 19, 2020 and resulted in a total of 116 cases, with 73 involving residents of the long-term care centre and 43 cases involving staff.
Out of the 73 residents who tested positive, 30 died, said the BCCDC.
“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases” at the AgeCare Harmony site, read a statement from Fraser Health.
