Two men, including a 31-year-old from Burnaby, are facing theft charges after the Burnaby RCMP's prolific offender suppression team caught them trying to steal washing machines from a truck headed from Burnaby to Prince George.
On Wednesday, police followed the truck from Burnaby to Langley after receiving a tip from the Prince George RCMP.
"Our information was that over $14,000 in merchandise had disappeared from shipments originating in Burnaby and there was a strong possibility that an additional theft was about to occur," Burnaby RCMP Sgt. Adam MacNeill said in a press release.
The property was owned by a furniture retail chain. After police observed the two men removing several large boxes containing washing machines from the transport trailer, police moved in and arrested the two men without incident.
Zdravko Slipac, 31, of Burnaby, and Marinko Slipac, 29, of Langley, have been charged with theft.
