Two more candidates added to BC Green Party’s Burnaby slate

General voting day is scheduled for Oct. 19.

Two more BC Green candidates have been named in Burnaby with candidates now in four out of five local ridings. 

Spencer Leong Cowie has secured the nomination for Burnaby Centre while Bryan White will represent the party in Burnaby North.

Leong Cowie and White join Tara Shustarian, who secured the nomination in Burnaby East on Aug. 27, and Carrie McLaren, who is running in Burnaby South-Metrotown

According to the party website, Leong Cowie is a climate activist and student at the University of Victoria where he is studying environmental policy. He's also the Co-Chair of the UVic Greens. 

"Electing Spencer will bring fresh energy and a youth-driven perspective to Burnaby Centre," his biography reads. 

"His proven dedication to sustainability and community well-being makes him the ideal candidate to advance meaningful change across British Columbia." 

White attended Westridge and Aubry Elementary and Burnaby North Secondary and is a lifelong resident of North Burnaby, his profile explains. 

White is running to advocate for accessible housing, support local businesses and protect the environment. 

"His lived experience in both the construction industry and real estate gives him a practical perspective on how to tackle the housing crisis in Burnaby," the BC Greens website states.

"Brian believes that by focusing on sustainable growth and community-focused policies, he can help make Burnaby North a more inclusive and prosperous place for everyone."

Voting day is Oct. 19 for the 2024 provincial election.
