If you’ve got skis, bikes and lacrosse gear gathering dust in your closet, now’s the time to pull it out and consider giving it to a charity.
KidSport Tri-Cities is calling for donations of sporting goods to sell at its biannual fundraiser at the Poirier Forum (618 Poirier St., Coquitlam) on Sept. 9.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the venue next to the Dogwood Pavilion, is a big money-maker for the organization that’s run by Chris Wilson, a Olympian and a former city councillor.
The proceeds go to paying organized sport registration fees for children in families with financial need.
Wilson and his volunteer team are asking for high-quality used sports equipment — no more than six years old — to be dropped off between Aug. 30 and Sept. 8 at:
- Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam, front desk)
- Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave., Arena 3)
- Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd., front desk)
More than 2,000 people visited the spring sale.
Admission to the fall sale is by donation or with a non-perishable item for the SHARE food bank. Cash, debit and credit cards are accepted to buy goods.
Meanwhile, volunteers are sought for the Sept. 9 fundraiser. Email [email protected], or visit kidsporttricities.ca to learn more about the cause.
